General Notes: Husband - James R. Pringle
He attended the school of his native parish until he was fourteen years of age, then in 1833 came to the United States with his parents, finishing his education at the public school in North Liberty, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, where the family settled on a farm. After arriving at manhood he entered mercantile life, keeping a store at North Liberty. From there he moved to Portersville, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he operated a hotel, as he did later in Butler. He abandoned the hotel business in Butler and then had a feed store until finally engaging in the oil business, leasing land and producing until his death. He was a Democrat in politics, and while living in North Liberty served for several years as justice of the peace. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church.
