General Notes: Husband - John Work

He migrated with his brother, William Work, from Cumberland County to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and came to what later became the John L. Work farm in Indiana County, in 1804. He was one of the first justices of the peace in Mahoning township, and one of the first elders in Gilgal Presbyterian church.
At the end of his life, he was found dead in the woods near his home. He had accompanied John Brady to see him across the creek, below Richmond, and, as was the custom, took his gun and dog along. He failed to return and was found by the barking of his faithful dog.
