General Notes: Husband - Hugh Brady
He learned the carpenter's trade, and worked at the business about five years.
He was in the Civil War\emdash first in company A, 61st regiment Pennsylvania volunteers for thirteen months, and was wounded three times in the battle of Fair Oaks. He also was in the 57th regiment Pennsylvania volunteers, and 206th Pennsylvania volunteers. While in the 206th, he was sergeant-major of the regiment. He was discharged at the close of the war, at Richmond. Soon after he came out of the army, he engaged in mining coal. In 1867, he purchased an interest in the coal vein on the Steffey farm, and commenced working the same.
