General Notes: Husband - John McKibben
It is thought these McKibbens came to America from Hillsborough in County Down Ireland whence they had come with the Douglas Clan from Scotland.
At the time of the Revolutionary War, he and his wife lived in Washington Twp, Westmoreland County, PA, about 3 1/2 miles south west of Apollo. About 1778 the border troops built Fort Hand on the McKibben farm. In the Fall of 1779, Fort Hand was burned and the McKibben family moved to Mt. Pleasant Twp, Washington County, and this township later became Cross Creek Township, where the McKibben farm was just a short distance from where Cross Creek Village now stands.
