General Notes: Husband - Matthew Brown
He was a native of county Tyrone, Ireland. With his wife and their two children, one of whom died during the voyage, he set sail for America, settling upon their arrival in Ligonier township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, on a farm known as the McCreary farm. Afterwards he leased land later owned by C. C. Ramsey, and being a weaver by trade he wove cloth for his neighbors. At the expiration of seven years he purchased the farm later owned by his grandson, Matthew W. Brown, and resided thereon for the remainder of his days. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church, and a Whig in politics.
He came to America with his wife from Ireland in the latter part of the eighteenth century, and settled on a farm in Fairfield township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he passed the remainder of his life.
