General Notes: Husband - William Patton Bowser

Leaving the farm at quite an early age, he was engaged for some time in carpenter work, rig building and oil field labor in the vicinity of Rimerton, Parkers Landing, and other places in Armstrong and Butler counties, Pennsylvania. A few years following his marriage he moved to Cattaraugus County, New York, where he was employed in the great Bradford oil field. In 1890 he went to the Turkeyfoot field in West Virginia as field manager for John Coast of Olean, New York, his former employer. His employer gave him a responsible position in 1893 in the oil field of Wood County, Ohio, where he acquired an interest in the property. Following the sale of this property he returned to Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, and bought the old Bowser homestead near Walk Chalk. After a few months he returned to the oil district near Weston, West Virginia, where he was employed for seventeen years as superintendent of the Fink District, by the South Penn Oil Co. He relinquished this position in 1915 on account of ill health and accompanied by his wife, made a trip to Florida, and thence to Oklahoma to visit the family of his wife's brother, John Sindorf. While there he received tidings of the death of his daughter, Parma (Mrs. W. J. Tapp), at Portville, New York. After the funeral of his daughter he returned to his home in West Virginia. His health continuing to decline, and he entered the Hillsview Sanitarium, Washington, Pennsylvania, where he died.
