General Notes: Husband - Capt. James Brown


He enlisted in December, 1776, as a private in Captain Alexander Patterson's company, Twelfth Pennsylvania Line, commanded by Colonel William Cooke. He also served in the Third Regiment, Pennsylvania Line. He was engaged at the battles of Monmouth and Brandywine, and at Piscataway and Short Hills, New Jersey. April 6, 1818, he applied for a pension and this was granted on account of his Revolutionary services.
