He served in World War I, in France, from May 28, 1918, to May 10, 1919, with Battery E, 153d Brigade, 78th Div. 1st Army Corps. He was in the following battles: Toul Sector, St. Mihiel, Preny Raid, Meuse-Argonne, and Grand Pre.
