General Notes: Husband - John Holcroft
The exact date of his arrival in Washington County, Pennsylvania, is not known, but he was there prior to 1786.
During the Whiskey Insurrection he was living in what is now Union township, and was one of the foremost and most active of the insurgents. The land upon which he then lived was east of Gastonville, on the Finleyville and Elizabeth road. In 1788, Holcroft was assessed upon a tract of four hundred acres of land called "Liberty Hall," that was taken up by Samuel Irwin upon a Virginia certificate. In January, 1795, Holcroft bought it. He lived in Union township until 1818, when he died far advanced in years.
