General Notes: Husband - Simon Brinker
Civil War: he served in the One Hundred and Forty-second Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, in which he enlisted in the month of August, 1862.
He and his brother Joseph were both wounded at the battle of Fredericksburg in December, 1862. He recovered sufficiently to rejoin his regiment, but was again wounded at Appomattox Court House, the last great battle of the war. His wound on this occasion was very slight, however. After the close of hostilities he went to Defiance County, Ohio, where he was killed by the fall of a heavy log in a saw mill which rolled on him.
