General Notes: Wife - Deborah Chambers
RENEMAN — Saturday, March 13th, 1880, at 1:40 P.M., Mrs. Deborah Breneman, wife of Daniel Breneman, of Paint township.
Deceased was born September 7th, 1801, and, when but a little girl, in company with her father, Wm. Chambers, and family, came to this county from New Jersey. She was married to Daniel Breneman in 1824; she raised a family of eleven children and lived to see them all grown up and comfortably situated in life. Seven of her grandchildren were cast upon her care and received at her hands the same kind attention that was bestowed upon her own children.
She had enjoyed unusual good health for the last year of her life and on Tuesday evening preceding her death went to church, but while there contracted a cold which, on Wednesday, developed into a violent attack of lung fever; so violent indeed, that she was soon unable to talk, but just before her death she opened her eyes to look once more upon those she loved, then quietly, peacefully, without a struggle or a pain she breathed her last.
Her death was like the setting of the morning star that goes not down behind the darkened west, but gently fades away into the light of day.
But better than all this, and above all this, she was a sincere Christian; a believer in experimental religion, she realized its virtue over sixty years ago, and at that time united with the M. E. church and fought the whole of life's battle under the King Emmanuel. Her Bible was her counselor and her guide; on earth it was the staff of her pilgrimage, and in heaven her passport to the throne of God. Thus adding another to the long list of those who have searched the gospel of Jesus and found it the will and word of God.
In her last illness, when the world and the things of the world were fast fading before her, she had hope and consolation in the promises of the Saviour; and calmly surveying the approach of death, she looked beyond its power to the glorious immortality promised to the believer.
