Vandergrift, Armstrong Co, PA
He was reared near Kittanning, Pennsylvania, where his school days were spent, and at the age of nineteen years, with other members of his family, came to Butler County, where most of his time was spent in Parker Township. Although he received but a meager education, for over twenty years he was one of the township's best known oil producers. He was known as a stanch friend to all educational movements.
