Francis Montgomery, retired machinist
GROVE CITY - Francis M. Montgomery, 88, of Grove City RD 4, died at 3:42 p.m. Friday in the Hillcrest Unit of United Community Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Montgomery was born in Centertown, Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County June 27, 1892, to Samuel and Elizabeth Montgomery.
He was married to Hannah Fryman Hoffman on June 13, 1937, and she died Feb. 28, 1980.
Mr. Montgomery was retired in 1967 from Cooper Energy Services where he had been a machinist. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Grove City.
Mr. Montgomery is survived by three daughters, Mrs. George (Alma) Arnold and Mrs. Joseph (Thelma) Summers, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. James (Dorothy) Hack, Lancaster, Ohio; three sons, Harry L. of Grove City RD 1, Robert E. of York, and Paul L. of Grove City RD 4; a sister, Mrs. Dora Pettit of Grove City RD 4; and three step-children, Miss Lucille Hoffman of Grove City; Mrs. Clarence "Buzz" (Margery) Winder and Mrs. Sidney L. (Delores) Vanderveen, both of Grove City RD 2. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Sholler, two brothers, Harold and Lloyd Montgomery, and three sisters, Mary Gilmore, Zona Yard, and Hattie Shaffer.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., at 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Charles A. Kohr, pastor of the Grove City Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will be in Mt.Irwin Cemetery, Irwin Township, Venango County.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
