General Notes: Husband - James O. Breene
The public schools of Oil City provided James O. Breene's early formal education, and he also attended high school there and the Hill School in Pottstown. Graduated from the Hill School in 1924, he became a student at Yale University. When he completed his studies there, he went to Oklahoma and became a drilling contractor in the oil fields there for three years. At the conclusion of that period, he became an oil producer in Oil City, associating himself in business with his father and at the same time entering the oil business as an independent producer. The Petroleum Explosives Company of Oil City was incorporated in 1935 and he was president and general manager. The Petroleum Explosives Company, was engaged in oil well shooting and deals in all types of explosives.
He took a lively interest also in civic affairs in Oil City, where he was a member of the Rotary Club and other local organizations. He belonged to Christ Episcopal Church there. Hunting and fishing were his favorite recreations.
