General Notes: Husband - William Brandon

Originally from Ireland, this family located near Big Spring, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. From there the sons removed to the west.
He was one of the pioneers of Venango County, Pennsylvania, and the first settler in the central part of Cranberry township, locating where the town of Salina would later stand. Not long after his settlement there he was drafted to serve in the War of 1812. Leaving his family in the woods, he served until the close of the war. Hunting was his principal business for some length of time after his settlement in Cranberry. He once shot an elk in Sandy creek, killed nine panthers within the limits of Cranberry, and killed many deer, bear, and other kinds of game.
