He acquired his education in the public schools and Reid Institute, Clarion County, Pennsylvania. He entered the medical department of the Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, and was graduated February 25, 1885. He began the practice of his profession in Venango County, Pennsylvania. After five years he located permanently at Reynoldsville, Jefferson County, and built up a substantial general practice, which continued until his death. He was an active, and devoted member of the Baptist church, serving as president of the board of trustees; member of the school board of his town, president of the Jefferson County Medical Society, and member of the Pennsylvania and American Medical Societies, and also affiliated with the I. O. O. F.
