General Notes: Husband - John Bouser
He, with his two brothers Daniel and Henry, came to America in 1733 and landed at Baltimore, Maryland. We assume they were close relatives of Mathias Bausser, Jr., for the following reasons: (1) They both sailed from the same port in the year 1733; (2) they settled near each other, finally in York County, Pennsylvania. Mathias came to America via Philadelphia and joined his countrymen at Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 1733. Shortly after 1739 he moved to Paradise Township, York County, where he permanently settled. It is to be remembered at that time, 1733, the port of sailing, Rotterdam, Holland, was crowded with hundreds and thousands of eager Palatine emigrants. When one ship had filled its quota, families were necessarily separated and a part was compelled to take another ship. With this in mind, we presume John and his brothers to be close relatives of Mathias Bausser, Jr.
Leaving Switzerland he and his brothers came down the Rhine River in a plank boat with sails, no doubt transferring to a larger vessel at Rotterdam, Holland. The tradition is that they were forty-eight weeks on water, partly by reason of the wind blowing the ship back, and when they landed they were so weak, some fell down and some could hardly walk. John was married and on this long ocean voyage a son was born to him.
