General Notes: Husband - John Crowe

He came to America from Ireland at an early date and located at Pittsburg, PA. He there became owner of a forty-acre tract, which later became part of central Pittsburg, and this he traded for three teams of horses. With these teams he later hauled cannon from Fort Pitt to Erie, and while en route passed a farm which caught his eye. His attention was attracted to what was a fine barn in those days, and later he returned and purchased the place, which he mostly cleared, and spent the remainder of his days upon it.

He emigrated from Ireland and settled in Allegheny County, PA, whence he moved to Butler County about 1810. He first settled on the Breakneck, but later moved to the eastern part of Forward Township, taking up a farm on which Samuel Skillings had settled early. He purchased the farm from William Cratty.

He came with his parents from Ireland some time in the 1700s, and settled on the Susquehanna river in eastern Pennsylvania. He was one of three brothers and had four sisters. About 1812 he located on the site of Petersville, Butler county, removing later to Breakneck, in Forward township, and soon afterwards he settled upon a 200-acre tract of land where John and David Crowe would later live. Here he spent the remaining years of his life.
