He and his wife were natives of Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and came to Westmoreland County in 1805. He was a tailor by trade but was engaged in keeping hotel at Pleasant Unity for several years previous to his death. Mrs. Bossart then assumed charge of the hotel and conducted it for several years.
