She was graduated from Waterford (Pennsylvania) Academy, class of 1896, was an able assistant in her father's establishment, and later, with her sister, Anna, was a partner in the grocery firm of Boyd & Boyd. The sisters were members of the Methodist Episcopal church, as was their mother, and were members of Hive No. 108, Ladies of the Maccabees, Rena M. being the record keeper.
