General Notes: Husband - John Leonard
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and came from there to Bear Creek Furnace, Armstrong County, with his parents in 1833. For many years he was superintendent of the old Maple Furnace in Butler County, and he was a business man of extensive and varied interests, being a large landowner, oil producer, coal operator, largely interested in banking, prominently identified with the promotion of the glass works at Parker operated by the Thomas A. Wightman Company, and one of the projectors of the Butler & Karns City railroad. For years he was one of the leading business men of that part of Pennsylvania. His death was the result of an accident. [HAC 1914, 535]
