General Notes: Husband - John Douglas

He and his wife were natives of Scotland, who died on the voyage to America, leaving Michael and a younger brother orphans. The two children were separated and were adopted, the one by an English and the other by a German family. They did not thereafter meet until they had grown to manhood and when they did they were unable to converse with one another because of different languages.
