General Notes: Husband - Matthew Caldwell
He took up his resi-dence in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, in 1819, and helped to cut the first road from Curwensville to Bloomington, on which he purchased a tract of wild land and improved a farm, it being in Pike township, where he spent the remainder of his life, chiefly engaged in farm-ing. He was also interested in the lumber busi-ness to some extent, and was among the first to build arks and float coal down the river to market. His death occurred April 24, 1869. Politically he was a stanch Democrat, and religiously both he and his wife were faithful members of the Presbyterian Church, in which he served as elder for many years.
Notes: Marriage
