General Notes: Husband - Robert Daugherty Bowser

He grew to manhood on the home farm. He was educated in the old-time common schools, and chose to devote himself for life to agricultural pursuits. Thus it came to pass that Mr. Bowser led the quiet, uneventful life of a successful farmer, cultivating his land according to the most advanced methods and using the most modern machinery. He married and they took up their abode on a farm of one hundred and sixty-five acres near Rural Village, Armstrong County, and there enjoyed twenty-two years of quiet happiness.
The political principles to which Mr. Bowser gave the support of his vote and influence were those advocated by the Democratic party, but he, as a rule, held aloof from politics. His disposition was friendly, but retiring, and he belonged to no clubs. He was a member and trustee of the Presbyterian Church of Rural Valley, Armstrong County.

General Notes: Wife - Martha H. Craig

She received her earliest education at the Jackson School, presided over by Thomas Henry. She next attended school in Harrison County, Ohio, whither her parents removed when she was twelve years old. At the end of five years they returned to the old home farm and there she lived until her marriage, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. Dr. Moorhead, pastor of the First Church of Greensburg. Mrs. Bowser joined this church, which was Presbyterian, during the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. Smith, and thereafter retained her membership. During her residence in Rural Village she was active in Sunday school work, missionary societies and kindred organizations. After the death of her husband Mrs. Bowser left the farm and returned to Greensburg, where she then resided. She was always actively interested in church work and charitable enterprises.
