The Harrington family, according to the best information, are lineal descendants of one of two brothers who came to America from England about 1549. Israel Harrington was of the third generation.

He was born in Rhode Island; moved to Danby Township, Rutland County, Vermont, in 1770.
He was a soldier in the Revolution.
