General Notes: Husband - James Reid, Esq.
He was closely connected with the interests of Oakland Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, ever since its organization [in 1854]. When a young man, he learned the plow and wagon making business with William Balph. After remaining with him five years, he changed his field of labor to Pittsburgh, Brady's Bend and Allegheny City. In the year 1848, he was employed in building wagons for the Government during the Mexican war, and it was not until 1849 that he located on a farm, which had formerly been owned by his father. Mr. Reid was Justice of the Peace for ten years or more.
