Civil War: he was killed in the Battle of the Wilderness.

Civil War: he was a member of Company F, of the Bucktail Regiment, and died from the effects of a wound received at the battle of Spotsylvania. [HMC 1888, 1083]
He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on July 1, 1863.
