General Notes: Husband - Robert S. Miller

He came to Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, with his parents during his boyhood, and was reared on a farm in Henderson township.
His father gave him one hundred acres of land adjoining the old homestead, and he there carried on farming until 1852, when he sold that property and purchased 160 acres of timber in Gaskill township. This he transformed into a good farm, making many improvements. In 1864 he enlisted in Company B, 82nd P. V. I., for service in the Civil war. At Petersburg he was stricken with typhoid fever, and remained in the field hospital until May, when he was transferred to Campbell Hospital, in Washington, D. C., and from there to Stanley Hospital, in Philadelphia, where he was honorably discharged. He then returned to the farm, which he operated, and in connection carried on lumbering to some extent.
In politics Mr. Miller was a Republican, served as school director for two terms, and was constable one year.
