General Notes: Husband - Walter B. McClenahen


He was educated in the public schools and was graduated from the Milroy Academy. Having accepted a position as clerk in the store of Mr. Thompson, of Milroy, Pennsylvania, he remained in it for a period of nine years. He then went to Braddock, Pennsylvania, where he was the manager of Walters' grocery store, and held this position two years. He enlisted in the United States army, Artillery Corps, January 25, 1898, and spent six years with the regular army. He served throughout the Spanish-American war; was a private, corporal, sergeant, first sergeant, sergeant major of Artillery Corps and appointed electrician sergeant, June, 1899; appointed to United States Artillery School, Fortress Monroe, Virginia, May, 1901, and was graduated from this institution in June, 1902; in January, 1904, he was discharged at Fort Terry, New York. He became a member of the Belleville Electric Company, of which he was the secretary. He was first an adherent of the Democratic party, but later was a Progressive.
