He graduated in the class of 1814 in Dickinson College, and obtained the degree of M. D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1827, the subject of his thesis being Cynanche Trachealis. He practiced medicine in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, several years before he attended his last course of lectures, after which he received an appointment of Assistant Surgeon in the U. S. Army, and died in the service.
