General Notes: Husband - Anthony Hile

He was born in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, and in 1835 came with his parents to Clearfield County, where he grew to manhood. Much of his life he resided on the old homestead, having purchased the place after his father's death. He followed the occupations of farming and lumbering with good success, but in his late years gave his exclusive attention to the former pursuit.
At the polls, Mr. Hile voted the straight Democratic ticket, and he served his fellow-citizens in a number of official positions, including those of overseer of the poor, collector, assessor, supervisor, constable for three or four terms and school director for nine years. In religious belief he was a Baptist, while his wife and a number of his children held membership in the Methodist Episcopal Church.
