General Notes: Husband - James McBurney

---

He opened up a mercantile store in Mercer, PA, in a smoke-house which stood on the site of which would become the location John M. Magoffin’s residence. This smoke-house was the property of an Irishman named Samuel Thompson, who at that time was conducting a hotel near by, known as the Thompson House. Mr. McBurney retired from the business about 1848.
