General Notes: Husband - William H. H. Black
During his youth he was provided with a good practical education and began his business career as a clerk in his father's store. Later he was similarly employed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was for a time engaged in business in Oil City. He later made his home in Shippenville, and was employed in looking after his large land and oil interests there. "He traveled extensively in the East, South and West, and his observing eye and retentive memory enabled him to carry back with him the scenes of beauty and historic interest that he visited, they remaining with him as pictures on memory's wall. Travel, and his social, genial nature made him an entertaining companion, and he was a stanch and loyal friend, fond of good fellowship and devoted to those who had his confidence."
