General Notes: Husband - James Alvin Bonner
He attended the public schools of his township, and worked on his father's farm until 1864, when he went into the oil business at East Sandy, Venango County, Pennsylvania, and subsequently followed the same business at Scrubgrass, Foxburg, and Foster Island, also operated at different points along the Allegheny river, and at Bullion, Venango County. In 1876 he entered the employ of the Phillips Brothers, and continued with them for many eighteen years. In 1881 he came to Butler County, and located in the borough of Butler, and in 1891, purchased a part of the Heiner property, on which he erected his residence. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Politically, he was an ardent Democrat, and was a member of the school board.
A resident of Butler, PA, in 1919, he was engaged with the Phillips Brothers as an oil driller for forty-three years, and later was superintendent of their drilling operations, often with as many as twenty-two strings of tools going at once. He began his oil work in the Bullion field.
