Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co, PA

He served his apprenticeship in Belfast, Ireland, at the cooper's trade, and on coming to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1843, worked six years for William Teese, whom he bought out at the end of that time. He then carried on large barrel-works on Duquesne way for about twenty years, when he retired from active business, as the Standard Oil company and the county workhouse had nearly ruined his trade.
He resided in Allegheny City until 1880, when he moved to a home in Bellevue. He was a member of the U. P. Church, of which he was an elder beginning in 1860.
