He and his wife were natives of the north of Ireland, who immigrated to the United States in 1845 and were residents of Philadelphia for several years. They next removed to Pittsburgh, where they lived for over thirty years and were engaged in the dairy business. In 1872 they removed to a farm in Penn township, Westmoreland County, which Mr. Blackburn bought. He was a republican in politics.
