The Boice family were early settlers in Ulster County, New York, one of the sons marrying Annie Cantine (also spelled Cantein and Canteyn), daughter of a well-to-do French family by whom she was disinherited on account of her marriage.

Jacob Boice in 1812 moved to Dryden, Tompkins County, New York.
