General Notes: Husband - Thomas Alexander Black
He was born on the old farm in Hanover township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, which he later owned and resided on. He attended the "Old McCausland School," and assisted with the farm duties. After marriage he followed farming on the old homestead, and in 1883 took an extended tour through the West, visiting several of the growing states. He was an admirer of fine cattle, and kept a number of thoroughbred Holsteins on his farm. In politics he was a Republican, but upheld the principles of the Prohibitionists. He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian Church.
