Beaver Co, PA

He was educated at the common schools, being a student later on in the high school, Cooperstown, Venango County, PA, and at Edinboro State Normal School, Erie County, PA. He commenced the study of medicine in 1863 with Dr. Robert Crawford, of Cooperstown, took a regular course at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, in 1865, and in 1866 commenced practicing medicine at Baden, graduating in 1870 at Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery. He was also a teacher in the public schools for seven winters. He was for some years the practicing physician for the Harmony Society. He was a deacon in the Lutheran church; politically he was a Democrat.
