He came from Ireland to America in 1800, and settled near the present town of Boalsburg, Centre County, Pennsylvania; in his honor the town was named.

He emigrated from Ireland upon the suppression of the Rebellion of 1798, and settled in Penn's valley, Centre County, Pennsylvania. He early connected himself with the Slab Cabin Church, was elected an elder, and served as such until his death.
