General Notes: Husband - James Harvey Black
He was reared on a farm and when eighteen years old left home for the purpose of learning the cabinet-maker's trade. He was one of the first merchants to do business in Grove City and continued there until his death. He was ever influential in the upbuilding of the city. As a temperance advocate, none was ever more reasonable and yet daring. Politically, he was a Republican, while in church relations he was of the Presbyterian faith.
