General Notes: Husband - George Adam Blank
He was born thirty miles west of Philadelphia, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. At the instance of his uncle, Jacob Berger, who had no children, he came to Westmoreland County and resided with Mr. Berger and his wife for several years. By hard work and prudent management he soon acquired means enough to purchase a farm of his own, which was later owned by his son, John. He was over six feet in height and very strong. He was a democrat, an elder in the Lutheran church and an influential man in his neighborhood. He learned the trade of shoemaker at Germantown, and before leaving the east he married. They had eleven children, of whom seven were dead before 1890. He owned about six hundred acres of land when he died.
When a young married man, he came to Westmoreland County, where he and his wife joined his aunt, who was the wife of one Jacob Berger, a pioneer in that part of the state. He made his home with this aunt, who had no children of her own, and inherited a fine property from her.
