He was a graduate of the University of Kansas and Harvard University; a member of the Catholic Church and Phi Kappa Psi. He was connected with Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri, as head of Public Relations. He entered service in World War II, in the autumn of 1942, and served two years with the Army.
