He was graduated at Princeton College in 1892 and admitted to the Bar in 1894. Besides practicing law he was engaged in other business, principally in the mining of coal. He was president and director of the Goshen Coal Company, president and director of the Clearfield Cemetery Company and director of the County National Bank. He was a member of the Cottage Club of Princeton, New Jersey, and of the Princeton and Racquet Club, Philadelphia.
