General Notes: Husband - John (?) Best

The Bests were early settlers in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, their ancestor being Scotch-Irish, although the emigrant came from England. There is a tradition in the family that this ancestor, failing to obtain parental consent to marry, made a runaway match and never stopped until safely landed on the friendly shores of America. This ancestor is supposed to have been John Best, who settled in Westmoreland County about the time of the revolution.
