General Notes: Husband - James Hurst
He was born, reared and spent his life in Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He followed the occupation of farming, owning a portion of the original homestead, possibly upwards of two hundred acres, and was one of the prosperous and thrifty men of the community.
He was a farmer and was very successful financially. For some years he held the office of justice of the peace and was known as "Squire Hurst." In politics he was an old line Whig, and he and his wife were members of the Presbyterian church. [HWC 1906 III, 381]
