General Notes: Husband - Robert McBride
He received a fair common school education at the district schools of his native county and at the Grove City Academy. At the age of sixteen years he commenced teaching in the country schools and taught for six years. He then turned his attention to agriculture and had a good seventy-five-acre farm, which he conducted in a most businesslike manner. In his political views he was in hearty sympathy with the Democratic platform and cast his vote with that political party. In 1902 he came within five votes of being nominated county commissioner. Although belonging to the minority party in his township, he held several offices to which he was elected. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias fraternities.
