General Notes: Husband - Thomas Bigham
Of Scotch-Irish descent, he went from Adams County, Pennsylvania, to Butler County on horseback in 1806, and purchased from the Pittsburgh Academy a farm on which his son William would later reside. He was a soldier of 1812.
He grew to manhood in his native county, and in 1806 accompanied his father and brother Hugh to Slippery Rock township, Butler County. His father purchased 400 acres of land and gave each of the sons 200 acres, and then returned to his home in Adams County.
