General Notes: Husband - Andrew Brown
He was born in Ireland, emigrated to America in 1779, and settled on West Conococheague Creek, in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. His wealth at that time consisted of one shilling. He remained there just long enough to make the money to bring him to Fayette County. When he came there he settled on Mill Run, one and a half miles east of Fayette City, where he bought a farm from Col. Edward Cook. He engaged in farming, and continued in that occupation all his life.
For fifty years he was an elder in the Presbyterian Church of Rehoboth.
He took up a tract of three hundred and eighty acres in Washington township, farming it all his life. He was a Democrat in politics, and with his wife a member of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church.
