General Notes: Husband - Matthew Black
He was reared in the old log cabin erected by his father in the primitive forest of Marion township, Butler County, PA, and received a meager education in the pioneer schools of that period. He made farming his life vocation, and owned a portion of the original tract entered by his father, to which he added thirty-three acres, owning at his death a farm of 110 acres of well improved land. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church, and in politics, was a supporter of the Whig party.
